WASHINGTON — Today, Jake Ellzey introduced HR 6378 to permit the remains of any Medal of Honor recipient to lie in honor in the Rotunda of the United States Capitol.

"As a nation, we are indebted to the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of our Medal of Honor recipients," said Ellzey. "The privilege to lie in honor symbolizes our nation's profound respect and gratitude for their extraordinary sacrifice, and it serves as recognition of their selfless heroism. Allowing these brave individuals to lie in honor in our nation's Capitol is a testament to the mark they've left on our nation's history."

HR 6378 will:

  • Authorize any recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor to lay in honor in the Capitol if requested by a member of the recipient’s family.
