Press Releases

Congressional offices of North Texas have joined together to co-host The North Texas Military Academy Day on April 1st, 2023. If you are a highly motivated, well-rounded, successful student, consider the unique opportunity to develop physically, ethically, and intellectually while building a foundation for an exciting, challenging, and rewarding career as a military officer in the service of our nation.

This event is free and open to the public. It is a great opportunity for students interested in applying for a service academy to gather information and ask questions to representatives from each service academy and congressional staff. Military Academies in the United States offer an excellent option for students who are interested in serving their country and receiving a quality education at no cost. Students at these institutions typically receive free tuition, room, and board, as well as a small stipend for expenses. All five of the undergraduate military academies have selective admissions, and all require at least five years of service upon graduation.

“Our district area students traditionally are very successful at the academies, and I’m pleased to do my part to ensure that the community continues to provide some of the next generation’s outstanding military leaders, “added Congressman Jake Ellzey.

This unique event brings together academy representatives from the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Coast Guard, the United States Merchant Marines, and the United States Airforce Academy. In conjunction with these academy representatives, congressional staff, Army/Navy-Marine Corps, Air force ROTC, and the DoDMERB come and participate in this forum.

Congressman Ellzey stressed, “Come to the North Texas U.S. Service Academies Forum and gather important and interesting information. I am a USNA graduate, and attending an academy was an honor and remains one of the greatest highlights of my life. If you are interested in attending one of these academies, I urge you to learn more about the process.”

Each year, Representative Ellzey will receive many inquiries from Congressional District 6 students who wish to attend a military service academy. One of the application requirements of all the United States service academies (except for the United States Coast Guard Academy) is nomination by a government official. The nominating official is usually a Member of Congress. The military service academies (Army, Navy, and Air Force) also accept nominations from other government officials.

The North Texas U.S. Service Academy Forum invites high school and middle school students and their families to attend. The event is being held Saturday, April 1 - registration begins at 7:30 a.m. program from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Fort Worth ISD Teaching & Learning Center, 1050 Bridgewood Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76112.
