Project Description and Statement of Public Benefit: This project would fund the interior and exterior renovation of U.S. Marine Corps maintenance Hangar 1050 at NAS JRB Fort Worth, including towers 1, 2, 3 and 4 to better accommodate crew, equipment, and administrative spaces. The U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) requires crew, equipment, and administrative space and the hangar bay requires additional KC-130J parking space for additional maintenance capability. Hangar 1050 is a large hangar that is used for storage and maintenance of cargo planes. The interior of the hangar contains four separate towers that house administrative offices and maintenance shops for the Marine Corps reservists. The facility was built in 1955 and is in poor condition. Examples include inoperable restrooms, leaks in the ceilings and wall-mounted air-conditioning units, and roof damage. The mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are beyond their useful life and are not compliant with current codes and standards. Additionally, the overhead crane configuration does not provide safe clearance for the KC-130J aircraft tail, causing hazards to personnel and the aircraft. This project was listed by the U.S. Marine Corps as one of its unfunded priorities for Fiscal Year 2025. Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 234 (VMGR-234) is a reserve U.S. Marine Corps KC-130J Super Hercules tanker/transport squadron stationed at NAS JRB Fort Worth. The KC-130J provides aerial refueling, logistics, close air support and multi-sensor imagery reconnaissance in support of expeditionary advance base operations, particularly in the Pacific region to counter China.
