House Passes Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act
June 5, 2024
Washington, D.C. – On June 5th, the House passed the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (MilConVA), 2025, a crucial piece of legislation reflecting the House's deep commitment to our servicemembers during their active duty and as they transition to civilian life.
The MilConVA Appropriations Act honors our commitment to our nation’s veterans by fully funding health care and benefits programs, bolsters our national security through robust funding for the Indo-Pacific region, and reins in the woke ideology pushed by the Biden Administration.
The bill provides comprehensive funding, including discretionary funding for the Department of Defense (Military Construction and Family Housing), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and related agencies, as well as funds for mandatory programs for medical care for toxic exposure.
For the Veterans Administration, the bill allocates funding above the Fiscal Year 2025 request of the President and significantly above the Fiscal Year 2024 enacted level, with a substantial portion dedicated to medical care.
Key Provisions of the Bill:
- Honoring Our Commitment to Veterans:
- Fully funds veterans’ health care programs.
- Fully funds veterans’ benefits and VA programs.
- Bolstering National Security:
- Provides robust funding for the Indo-Pacific region.
- As a deterrence to China, fully funds projects in Guam.
- Increases resources for the Indo-Pacific region to enhance the Department of Defense posture in the region.
- Focusing the Executive Branch on Core Responsibilities:
- Prohibits the use of funds to promote or advance critical race theory.
- Prohibits implementing, administering, or enforcing the Biden Administration’s executive orders on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Supporting American Values and Principles:
- Prohibits taxpayer dollars from being used for abortion, using Hyde language, which includes exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother.
- Protects the 2nd Amendment rights of veterans by preventing the VA from sending information to the FBI about veterans without a judge’s consent.
- Prohibits the VA from processing medical care claims for illegal aliens.
“The House did our job,” said Ellzey. “The Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill demonstrates support of our active-duty military and their families, our veterans, and ensures America is protected from growing threats throughout the world, especially in the Indo-Pacific region.”
