WASHINGTON — In advance of the Committee beginning its hearings next week on the President's Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request, House Appropriations Chairwoman Kay Granger announced Rep. Jake Ellzey (TX) will move to the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee from the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education.

"I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Jake Ellzey - Congressman from the great state of Texas - to the Defense Subcommittee,” said Chairwoman Granger. “A former fighter pilot with 20 years of experience in the Navy, he has been a champion for a strong national defense in Congress and is an excellent addition to the subcommittee. I am confident his experience in the military will be invaluable as we provide our servicemembers with the tools they need to meet and defeat our enemies."

“I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve on this committee under the leadership of Chairwoman Granger and Subcommittee Chairman Calvert,” said Congressman Ellzey. “The Defense Appropriations Subcommittee is where the House of Representatives uses the power of the purse to ensure our military has the right equipment, sufficient resources, and well-trained warfighters to protect America, her citizens, and our national interests throughout the world. I look forward to conducting rigorous oversight of the largest discretionary budget in the federal government to ensure taxpayers get the lethal, nimble, and reliable military force we need to stand fast against the malign ambitions of dictators in China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.”
