WASHINGTON, DC — Yesterday, alongside Representative August Pfluger, Congressman Ellzey proudly co-sponsored a critical piece of legislation aimed at protecting American taxpayers' dollars. This legislation, introduced in partnership with Representative Michelle Fischbach (MN-07), utilizes the Congressional Review Act to nullify President Biden’s decision to use taxpayer subsidies for illegal immigrants' healthcare.

The recent extension of federally funded benefits, including healthcare under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), to illegal immigrants by the Biden administration is a clear violation of federal statute. It directly contradicts President Barack Obama's assurances during the creation of Obamacare in 2009, where he explicitly stated that the reform efforts would not extend to insuring illegal immigrants.

Under President Biden's rule, approximately $300 million annually would be diverted to provide government-subsidized health insurance to an estimated 100,000 illegal aliens. This move not only flouts the law but also places an unjust burden on American taxpayers.

“As a staunch advocate for upholding the rule of law and ensuring that taxpayer funds are used responsibly, I stand firmly against this misuse of resources,” said Ellzey. “Providing healthcare benefits to illegal immigrants at the expense of hardworking American taxpayers not only undermines the integrity of our legal immigration system but also sets a dangerous precedent. Together with Representative Pfluger and Fischbach, I am committed to fighting for the interests of American taxpayers and preserving the integrity of our nation's immigration laws.”
