Project Description and Statement of Public Benefit: Feral hogs are the most damaging invasive species globally. At present, Texas has more than half of the feral hogs in the U.S., and experiences over $500M in agricultural damages annually. Texas A&M AgriLife Research wildlife specialists will lead this project that will empower and arm landowners to work together to create “feral-hog-free-zones” across areas of cooperating property. This will result in significant changes in agricultural production, both in the yields of farms but also in the types of crops grown. Further, this will help protect the sustainability of family farms and landowners.
