May 23, 2025
Proposed Recipient: Texas A&M AgriLife Research
Address of Recipient: 600 John Kimbrough Blvd, Suite 512 2142 TAMU College Station, TX 77843
Amount of Request: $5,000,0000
Project Description and Statement of Public Benefit: This project will develop and refine affordable testing and treatment technologies that will improve society’s ability to understand the breadth of and mitigate PFAS exposure. These chemicals bioaccumulate and observed concentrations in certain locations and media are well above the EPA’s recently released drinking water limits and their draft PFAS human health water quality criteria. Remediating contaminated water and reducing the PFAS exposure load is necessary to reduce current and future human and environmental health risks. Current analytical methods are cost prohibitive to implement on a wide scale and do not produce rapid results. This program will leverage current and develop refined hyperspectral techniques for rapid detection and non-destructive analysis of PFAS in environmental samples.
