Project Description and Statement of Public Benefit: The Palestine Police Department Emergency Response Team (ERT) is the tactical response team serving Anderson County and regularly responds to critical incidents both within and beyond county lines. The team provides mutual aid to surrounding jurisdictions and works alongside state and federal to include the DEA and ATF partners to safely resolve high-risk incidents, including the service of violent felony warrants, barricaded subjects, and other dangerous tactical operations throughout District 6.

The acquisition of night vision equipment will significantly enhance operational effectiveness during low-light and night-time deployments, when many high-risk incidents occur. This capability will allow operators to detect and assess threats more effectively, reduce response times, and increase precision in rapidly evolving situations. Most importantly, it will improve the safety of the citizens of District 6, ERT personnel, and all law enforcement partners involved in these operations.
